Happy Easter everyone! I hope you all had a great long weekend celebrating with family and friends. We spent the weekend with my parents, just doing the normal things one does on a long weekend: eat far too much, play games that turn my pacifist parents into cut-throat competitors, watch movies, and sleep in. It was great.
What probably took the cake, however, was watching Ellie take part in her first Easter Egg Hunt(s). Oh gosh you guys, I know it’s SO cliche, but truly, there is something so fantastic about watching your kid take something in for the first time. It was SO FUN for me to watch her figure out how to look for eggs and even more fun for her to figure out that my parents had actually put chocolate INSIDE the eggs. (We actually took her to an egg hunt at a local market Saturday morning, and then my parents had a hunt for her that afternoon. By the end of the weekend she was an egg-finding MASTER).
There are a lot of great things about having kids, but watching them get excited about something new is definitely up there.
And on a completely unrelated note – this video was shown at our church service on Sunday morning. Give it a watch. As amazing as it is watching Ellie have fun, it goes without saying that the true reason we celebrate Easter has everything to do with what Jesus did for us, and how that has entirely shaped my life.
